単語や熟語を丁寧に調べ上げれば、正しい翻訳ができるというものではありません。
そのような学習法こそ私が毎度問題にしている「暗記つめ込み学習法」なのですね。
私は翻訳プロセスについて拙著「英語の翻訳法」で述べているのですが、その中で誰にも実践できる、誰でも意識を切り替えることが出来る方法、それは英単語を「意味として捉えるのではなく機能として捉える」ことなのです。
もう少し分かりやすく言うと、単語は「意味を調べる前に品詞を調べる」ということでもあるのです。実際イギリス本国から取り寄せた日本のすべての辞書には、意味の前に品詞が存在しているのです（もっとも、現在の日本の国語辞書も同じ形式です）。
