本文	President Barack Obama stepped into the spotlight one last time at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois, on Tuesday evening. In the city where his political career began, Obama gave a 50-minute farewell address to the nation. With a large presidential seal overhead and a row of flags lining the stage, Obama reflected on his eight years in the White House, talked about the future of the country, and said “thank you” to the American people. “You were the change. You answered people’s hopes, and because of you America is a better, stronger place than it was when we started,” Obama said to a crowd of about 18,000, just ten days before Donald Trump is sworn into office as the country’s 45th president. “Our Constitution is a remarkable, beautiful gift. But it’s really just a piece of parchment,” Obama said. “It has no power on its own. We, the people, give it power. We, the people, give it meaning — with our participation, and with the choices that we make and the alliances that we forge.”
