| 本文 | Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of John F. Kennedy and one of President Obama’s most prominent supporters, was sworn in Tuesday as the United States ambassador to Japan. She will leave for Tokyo on Thursday. Ms. Kennedy, 55, a lawyer and author, has been the director of numerous nonprofit organizations. She also endorsed Mr. Obama’s candidacy in 2008 at a critical moment in his Democratic primary contest. She has no special expertise in Japan. But she has a close relationship with the White House, as Secretary of State John Kerry mentioned during a reception on Tuesday night for Ms. Kennedy at the residence here of the Japanese ambassador. |
あっという間に一年が過ぎ去ってしまいました。
オバマ大統領、ケネディー大使。
昨今の米国史が同時に日本史になっている有様を見ると大きなグローバリゼーションの波のうねりが日本に打ち寄せている現実を感じざるを得ません。
それらすべての世界史の背景にあるものは「IT化」という情報化社会の存在です。
その重要な手段になっているのが言うまでもなく、インターネットであり言語なのです。従って、我々の英日翻訳・日英翻訳の必要性が今後一層必要不可欠なものになっていくのは間違いないことです。
来年こそ、その第一歩を大きく踏み出してもらいものと切に願っています。
